A difficult week for Ellen DeGeneres!
After the host of the talk show as well as a beloved comedian has faced the devastation around her home in Montecito after the mudslides, she has confirmed the loss of her father Elliott DeGeneres at the age of 92. During Thursday’s show, Ellen has shared this sad news with the audience and has honored her late father as well as a former insurance salesman by paying a moving tribute and has said, “Before we go to break, there’s something else I want to talk about. I mentioned yesterday when I was talking about all the mudslides that are going on in my community of Montecito, which is heartbreaking, I said that I had a lot going on in my life.
She has also told a story about the sign she has received before her dad’s passing. She told the audience that in addition to what’s going on in Montecito, she has lost her dad this week and he was 92 years old, having a good, long life. Th59-year-old on Instagram has posted old photos of her alongside her father as well as a massive rainbow appearing over her stage. She wrote, “It wasn’t unexpected. I was able to say goodbye. When I was a kid, my dad took us on one vacation to Warner Bros. Studios. He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me.”
On Wednesday, Ellen DeGeneres has FacTimed Oprah Winfrey, who is her neighbour near Montecito, for discussing the devastation in the area. Ellen has told Oprah that so many times over the past 15 years, people have come up to her and say that when they’re going through a tough time this show gets them through it. She said, “Today, I need you because there’s a lot going on in my life right now.”
