CNN anchor Don Lemon has been mourning the loss of his older sister L’Tanya ‘Leisa’ Lemon Grimes!
The family in a statement to E! News has said, “The Lemon/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time.” They have said that their family has suffered the loss of Grimes and they are leaning on each other for strength at this time. The 58-year-old Grimes has accidentally fallen into a neighborhood pond in Livingston Parish, Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon.
According to CNN, Lemon has not appeared on the cable news network on Thursday evening. The 51-year-old host has also paid his tribute to his sister in a tweet on Thursday saying, “Thanks everyone for your words of sympathy.” He said that Leisa was his oldest sister as well as the partner in crime growing up, always having his back. According to The Times-Picayune reports, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office does not suspect any foul play and consider her death as an accident.
Don has also shared an uplifting video starring many adorable children giving a ‘breaking news’ report about why ‘black excellence is at an all-time high.’ He has tweeted, “This lifted my spirits. I needed this today. Thank you @EuniqueJG!! #BlackHistoryMonth.” As per the reports, it appears that Grimes might have tripped and fallen into the water while fishing. Don used to anchor the show on CNN, ‘Tonight with Don Lemon’ during weekday prime-time as well as serves as a correspondent across CNN/US programming. Don has recently traveled to New Orleans on New Year’s Eve where he has helped in co-hosting the network’s coverage from the city. This is not the first tragedy faced by the journalist in his life, in 2010 he has shared that he has been molested as a child.
