On Friday, Elvis Duran’s long-time beau Alex Carr got down on one knee and asked the Z100 radio host to marry him. In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip of the romantic proposal, Alex has creatively popped the question with the help of a black umbrella— which had the words “Elvis, Will You Marry Me?” written on it. Alongside a picture of the couple standing behind the opened umbrella, Alex— a zookeeper from Staten Island— has acknowledged that while some may not think getting engaged on Friday the 13th is a wise decision, he’s not a superstitious man. On Instagram, he wrote: “Yesterday was Friday the 13th. People believe that the day brings bad luck, but I totally disagree.
He has said, “I was born on Friday, June 13th. I’ve always considered myself to be lucky and blessed, as I was when Elvis came into my life almost eight years ago…first as my boyfriend and now fiancé!!!! They say opening umbrellas in the house brings bad luck, but this time I don’t believe it. I love you, Elvis Duran!”
The 53-year-old Elvis has shared a shot of the happy couple on his own social media account. By letting the picture speak for itself, he has chosen not to include the caption. The big news was also confirmed by Elvis’ syndicated Z100 radio program “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.”
The radio program has shared the news by sharing what seemed to be a snapshot from Alex’s Facebook page, informing his pals and family that the couple had changed their relationship status to engaged. On 9th April, Elvis was inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, joining some of his own personal heroes. He has said about receiving the honor, saying, “To be included with guys like Wolfman Jack or Casey Kasem and other guys I grew up listening to? It’s incredible.”
