Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black welcomes baby boy via surrogate

New proud fathers!

Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have welcomed their first child, Robert Ray through a surrogate on Wednesday and announced in a statement appearing in the U.K.’s Times newspaper on Saturday. The brief statement reads, “Black-Daley: On 27 June 2018 to Thomas Robert Daley and Dustin Lance Black, a son, Robert Ray.” The moniker held a particular significance: Robert was the first name of the athlete’ dad— who died in 2011 after battling cancer. This is also Tom’s middle name. In one of the first shots of the baby boy, both the fathers cradle their son’s head in their intertwined hands.

On Instagram Saturday, Dustin wrote in the caption: “Welcome to the world little Robbie Ray. Thank you for bringing so much love and light with you. Moreover, thank you to those who helped make our dream of having a family into this wonderful reality. ❤#AFamily #HappyBirthday 👨‍👨‍👦.” Another picture posted by Tom has shown the little one’s cute feet. He wrote, “The most magical moment of my life. The amount of love and joy you have brought into our lives immeasurably. Our precious son. ❤👶🏼❤.”

The British diver and Oscar-winning American screenwriter have announced the baby news of the new addition to their family in February by posting a shot of the couple holding up an ultrasound image on Instagram. The 24-year-old captioned, “HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!” while the 44-year-old wrote, “A very happy #ValentinesDay from ours to yours.”

The pair began dating one another in 2013 and got married in May 2017 at Bovey Castle in Devon, England— about 30 miles away from Plymouth, Tom’s hometown. In a joint interview with ‘Out,’ the new parents have said that it was “love at first sight” and both wanted kids. Dustin has revealed, “We were so busy making all these plans — we both wanted to have children; we both wanted to build a home of our own someday.”
